5 Spotify Playlists For 5 Daily Situations

spotify playlists for different situations

Whether you got iOS or Android, we have one must-have app: Spotify. It saves us the hassle of having to look for songs, purchase and save MP3s as local files. Think of it as your own cable, but replace TV shows with music. Another thing Spotify eases for us is the Genre & Moods category. Now this saves us time from thinking of creating the perfect set of tracks for parties, working out, or focusing on tasks. I'm one person who thinks music can help the mood, so I'm often on Spotify.

Right now I found 5 different playlists to improve 5 situations in our routines. At one point or another they helped me! To make it easier, I included where you can find them. Happy listening!

Morning Stroll

Find It Under: Mood / Chill

Situation: Waking up to the smell of victory and breakfast

How we start our day makes or breaks the rest of it. This playlist is filled with acoustics, light pop jams, and dreamy ballads. You can mostly hear upbeat guitar chords to put you in a better mood even if you are a night person. Night creatures, I swear you all need this!

Top Tracks of My Choice:

  • "Beautiful Soul" - Jesse McCartney
  • "Realize" - Colbie Caillat
  • "Stay" - Rihanna, Mikki Ekko

Beast Mode

Find It Under: Workout

Situation: Really needing that push to work out

Let's face it, staying healthy takes a lot of discipline both in diet and exercise. And both need hard work! Experts also say it's best to work out in the morning, so that's 3x as hard... But this playlist has got you covered. Here you get a set of hard rock (my favorite!), hip hop, and electronica tracks. Each song has a pretty high tempo to keep you going per rep. Scream along too for it to go along with busting the stress and the fat away.

Top Tracks of My Choice

  • "Panda" - Desiigner
  • "Thunderstruck" - AC / DC
  • "POWER" - Kanye West

Feelin' Good

Find It Under: Mood
Situation: Any pick me-upper

There is a very good reason why they call it "soul" music. It gives energy to both your body and soul. After all, we're souls with bodies, aren't we? Spotify hosts a lot of playlist aiming for good vibes, but the best one for me is "Feelin' Good". It's filled with R&B, blues, soul, reggae, and other retro tunes to energize our spirits. This applies when you need to boost your murky mood, or to ease the tension.

Top Tracks of My Choice:

  • "Be My Baby" - The Ronettes
  • "Do I Love You (Indeed I Do)" - Frank Wilson
  • "I Can See Clearly Now" - Johnny Nash

Calm Before The Storm

Find It Under: Focus

Situation: School / work blues or focusing on a creative task

There were a lot of Focus playlists on Spotify that I tried, but this one I felt deep down. The aim of this playlist, according to the description, is to "improve your concentration with aerial sounds". And indeed it does feel like a more artsy version of the score behind in-flight videos, with the bunch of ambient rock tunes. I only found this last Monday, and it's helped me deal with my tasks calmly.

Top Tracks of My Choice:

  • "Worth Everything Wished For" - The End of The Ocean
  • "Colors In Stereo" - Moonlit Stereo
  • "Every Second Is A Second Chance" - The Last Dinosaur

Teenage Dirtbag

Find It Under: Indie

Situation: Having fun/ road trip

I grew up with pop-punk and emo music. TBH I miss the days when these genres topped the charts! Can't we just revive bandom days again like it was 2000? Haha anyway, I call this playlist the millennial nephew of Feelin' Good. Some of our personal faves our here, including blink-182, Green Day, and Fall Out Boy. Who could also forget the Wheatus title track itself? Such a good playlist goes with fun times such as a road trip, a small get together, or just needing to shout "Rak na itu!"

Top Tracks of My Choice:

  • "I Don't Care" - Fall Out Boy
  • "Girl All The Bad Guys Want" - Bowling For Soup
  • "Fat Lip" - Sum 41

Honorable Mention

"Guardians of the Galaxy" Soundtrack

Situation: Any damn time, yo

We've all seen the trailer, and we're hooked on Blue Swede's "Hooked on a Feeling". Every other track is getting me psyched too! The OST fits as it is one of the first Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) films to take things lightly but deliver. Now taking this in, wonder how the Thor: Ragnarok OST would fare... (Most appropriate use of Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song" ever, tbh)

Top Track of My Choice: Honestly, there's only one for me and that's obviously "Hooked On A Feeling"
