Year In Review: 2016
2016 is a huge mistake, generally. It killed off the coolest people in this planet, for one. Then, it brought out the worst in people–especially those put in so much power. Also, violence is everywhere. Even the environment agreed with us and just decided to eff it off. Not sure if we're in an episode of Game of Thrones or Black Mirror. But either way, it's a mess. Personally, good things happened to me in 2016. It goes beyond "I'm alive", "I survived". Actual changes that either benefited me or taught me something happened. I can't say I'm super satisfied with this year and rate it a 10/10. But I took baby steps to self-improvement, for sure.
I intended to post this around the last day of the year. But with so much to do, I'm writing this in advance to avoid further delays. Procrastinating won't do favors. So I compile the highlights from the bumpy ass road called 2016.
HOLIDAY GETAWAY: SkyRanch Tagaytay
We were no strangers to the amusement park called Sky Ranch. If you're not a lazy bum, you can reach the park through the long walking distance. Like the cool welcoming nature of Tagaytay, Sky Ranch welcomes everyone of all ages.
HOLIDAY GETAWAY: Tagaytay // Taal Vista Hotel
Long weekends are a rarity this year. Most holidays in 2016 fell under weekends, so boo, that made 2016 such a year! But that didn't mean we can't catch a break every now and then, noh? But honestly, holidays falling on Wednesdays felt off. Is it really a vacation if you reset to normal immediately? But my family took this chance to bond with relatives from the US who came over for my cousin's wedding. Even with the short time we had this holiday, we toured them around Tagaytay. Its breezy climate and proximity to Manila make it the perfect day tour / road trip getaway. We took my uncle and aunt to Tagaytay and checked in to the scenic Taal Vista Hotel.
Halloween Movie Marathon 2016: More Than Just Kwaidan
Personally, Halloween is my favorite time of the year. Halloween specials on TV and the Internet always get me excited. Being a horror film geek myself, my usual way to celebrate Halloween is to watch 2-3 horror movies during the entire 31st of October. No other prose genre requires a great amount of creativity other than horror. Even if the execution isn't done well, horror gives its audience both anxiety and anticipation as they follow the story on screen. Will the hero make it out alive? Will the creature get to her first? When's the next creepy scene? Am I ready for that next jump scare? If you've experienced being hesitant to ride a roller coaster before only to ride it and live to tell the tale, then you've already got an idea on how it feels to watch a horror movie.
